Every now and then, a movie comes out, and I fall in love with it. It’s rare these days, especially for the horror genre. The drought has finally ended. Working from an original concept conceived by writer Daley Pearson, filmmakers Danny and Michael Philippou have created a cult classic and the potential for a new franchise in Talk to Me.

What I liked about it:

  • From the start, we know this is going to be a tragic and horrific tale. When a dude tries to kill his brother, that's some biblical stuff, and that means demons, baby! And who doesn’t love a horror story where someone dies in the first few minutes ( Halloween, Scream, Jaws)
  • It’s a tale fit for this generation's debauchery, its obsession with TikTok, and doing the most absurd things for likes and views. Remember the Tide-Pod challenge. It treats the horrors unfolding in front of these youngsters' mobile phone-viewing eyes as if it were just another Friday night sesh. A smart, allegorical story about young teenage curiosity with drugs and peer pressure. Replace the drugs with a cursed ceramic hand, and you’re in for a creepy…
