The New Batman Comic Hits The Jackpot!
Absolute Batman #1 is a must-read for new and old readers
One of my all-time favorite Batman writers is Scott Snyder, what he did for the franchise was epic.
From introducing The Court of Owls to showing us an over-the-top sadistic Joker (who can forget what he did with his own face)
Well folks he’s back again for Absolute Batman, a new take on the caped crusader.
I haven’t caught up with any of the Batman comics since Snyder’s run most of the stuff seemed boring I thought Tom King did a good job but it didn’t have that page turner feeling in my opinion .
I gave up on Batman like I gave up on Soda, but I guess it’s back on the bandwagon now.
Initially, there was backlash after leaked images and teasers of the new Batman came out.
It was quite a bold and controversial move for DC but they’re not afraid to step into the unknown, for better or worse.
I can safely say now it was worth taking the plunge.
It’s a hit.
As of right now the comic has sold out twice and going into third printing which will be released November 27th, 2024.
Long story short this is a Batman set in an alternate universe, and we’re getting a reboot of all the main DC heroes in some way or another. From what I’ve read and seen so far the story has me hooked.
Gotham’s a wreck ( as usual) and its need for Vengeance has not changed, it comes in the form of a brutal and hulking axe-wielding Batman. This beast isn’t afraid of chopping limbs.
He’s not the billionaire playboy anymore, but a blue-collar worker, with an interesting cast of friends, which might seem confusing to some but I am very very intrigued.
Don’t worry our favorite side characters are still around, Jim Gordon and of course our good old friend Aflred, I was amused with how they introduced Alfred in particular.
The action sequences and artwork were well done, I am not familiar with Nick Dragotta, but if you’ve read East of West, you’ll recognize his work.
What I am most excited about is a new rogues gallery of supervillains. What will an Absolute Bane look like?
If you know anything about Scott Snyder his takes on villains, especially Batman’s are legendary. And I can already see it happening again.
You can’t have a Batman without a Joker.
And this one doesn’t laugh.
I can’t wait for this story to continue, Scott Synder has said he’s on this project for the next couple of years!
It’s a good time to be a Batman fan and a comic book reader.
I highly recommend you pick it up and give it a chance.
As for my score for issue #1
I give it 5 outta 5 bats.
